Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman has been included in the global sustainability ranking “QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025” for the first time.
 
On December 10, 2024, the British analytical company specializing in higher education, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, published the third edition of the “QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025” ranking. The ranking identifies the best universities in the world that demonstrate a commitment to a more sustainable existence and achieve outstanding results in social impact, environmental sustainability, and good governance (ESG).
 
When forming the ranking, QS evaluates the activities of universities in solving environmental, social and governance problems, considering them not only as centers of education and research, but also as employers, taking into account external evidence - from the achievements of graduates in the field of science and technology to solve climate problems, to the Impact of research conducted within the framework of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
 
The ranking methodology is based on the results of universities’ activities in three assessment categories:
 
Environmental Impact (combines three indicators: environmental sustainability, environmental education and environmental research);
Social Impact (combines five indicators: equality, knowledge sharing, Impact of education, employment and opportunities, health and well-being);
Governance (considers factors related to good governance: ethics, hiring practices, transparency, decision-making, etc.).
In the “QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025” rating, Vadym Hetman Kyiv National University of Economics ranked 88th among higher education institutions in Eastern Europe, 515th in Europe and 1501+ in the world.
 
In total, 1743 universities from 107 countries are represented in this year’s “QS Sustainability Rankings 2025”, including 17 higher education institutions from Ukraine.
