The National Education Systems Research Sector is a structural unit of the Institute of Higher Education, which studies the world experience in the formation of competitive higher education systems, monitors modern models of education system development, and analyzes strategies for forming the global competitiveness of national higher education systems.

The purpose of the National Education Systems Research Sector is to conduct a comprehensive study of the international competitiveness of national higher education systems, factors, conditions, and factors of forming competitive education systems, as well as develop recommendations for increasing the competitiveness of the higher education system of Ukraine.

Research areas of the Sector:

• analysis of modern world trends in the formation of competitive higher education systems as the basis for increasing the competitive status of countries in the context of the formation of a knowledge economy;
• research on the evolution of concepts of the competitiveness of national education systems;
• comparative analysis of methods for assessing the competitiveness of national higher education systems;
• identification of factors that form highly effective higher education systems;
• assessment of competitive positions based on the peculiarities of the formation of modern education systems of key innovator countries;
• research of the peculiarities and competitive advantages of the EU higher education system at the national and supranational levels;
• research of models of development of higher education systems of newly industrialized countries;
• generalization of world experience in the formation of highly effective education systems and identification of strategic directions for the formation of the global competitiveness of the higher education system of Ukraine.
